Debra Cruttenden, 62, from Dorset was devastated to find her collection of wooden hives hidden away in a remote private woodland had been trashed last month. The grandmother, who has been beekeeping for 23 years, assumed the first attack was the work of bored teenagers after discovering her hives kicked over and stamped on. With the help of the local community Mrs Cruttenden was able to repair six of them after neighbours and friends raised £5,000 through a GoFundMe campaign .

The 60-year-old greengrocer turned MasterChef star has been unceremoniously sacked from the show ahead of the publication of a report into allegations of misconduct, conducted by law firm Lewis Silkin on behalf of production firm Banijay. A husband and wife who cashed in £50,000 on benefits by falsely claiming to be single parents were caught red-handed after posting luxurious holiday photos online. Alan Forsythe, 37, and wife Jemma, 36, created an elaborate scheme in which they ripped off the British taxpayers out of thousands of pounds by claiming they were separated despite living happily with their children in a family home. A court heard that between 2019 and 2023, the pair were living together at their family property in Blackpool, along with their two children and Jemma's two older kids from a previous relationship. However, the benefit cheats told the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) that they were each living separately.

An airline catering firm has been fined more than £2.4million for causing the death of a former Gurkha who was crushed by a forklift truck. Kumar Limbu, 60, suffered catastrophic injuries and died at the scene on April 11 2023 when he was struck from behind by the vehicle as he loaded it with goods. DO & CO Event and Airline Catering Limited has now been prosecuted for serious health and safety breaches after Hounslow Council's Commercial Health and Safety Team undertook legal action. Mr Limbu had been working for the company through an employment agency at a depot where cabin meals are prepared and packed for passenger planes that operate out of nearby Heathrow Airport.

A 'noise sensitive' woman who took her sisters to court in a bid to keep their late mother's home for herself has been told she has likely blown her entire £100,000-plus inheritance after losing her case. Sharon Duggan, 49, was left a third of the share of her mother's £420,000 home, but dramatically sparked a bitter inheritance battle after claiming she should be allowed to stay in the property as she needed it for her and her two emotional support dogs. The 'hyper-vigilant' and sound sensitive' woman sued her sisters, Ann and Brenda Duggan, claiming she needed their mother's house because she could not bear living in a noisy flat.

The mother of a young British man who was randomly shot dead in America has described the delays to his alleged killer's trial as 'torture'. Rory Swimm, who was born in Dundee in Scotland, was fatally attacked in Salt Lake City just days after his 23rd birthday in October 2023. He had engaged in 'banter' with his alleged killer and two friends at a convenience store before an argument broke out, his mother Susan Swimm said. The alleged shooter had 'three chances to leave' as he drove off, threw bottles at Mr Swimm and then returned to his car before carrying out the fatal attack, she added. Ms Swimm, 56, said he pulled out a gun, aimed a laser at Rory's chest and shot him dead in the street.

A newborn baby died after the mother was left to give birth alone by midwives and doctors, an inquest told. Liliwen Iris Thomas was born at the University of Wales Hospital but died just hours later after her mother's cries for help were ignored during labour. An inquest into the death of Liliwen was held at Pontypridd Coroner's Court on Tuesday. The assistant coroner for South Wales Central, Rachel Knight, explained that Emily Brazier was admitted to hospital for an induced labour on October 8, 2022, at '40+1 weeks'. Ms Brazier was given pethidine and codeine for pain relief, however she was 'not attended to or subjected to physical checks regularly enough', the inquest heard.

Undercover road police in an unmarked HGV have caught over 100 reckless British drivers in one day. The operation revealed drivers using mobile phones, not wearing seatbelts, and failing to pay proper attention to the road. Some were even spotted rolling cigarettes and scrolling through social media while driving.
